From 3 to 8 June 2024, an EHESP-International team with Jean-Marie André, EHESP Professor, expert in health systems financing, Murielle Bauchet, Public Health Expert, and Samuel Hilyer, EHESP-I Project Manager, travelled to Astana for an exploratory mission on health system financing in Kazakhstan, supported by the French Embassy in Astana and Expertise France.
After meeting various national stakeholders from the healthcare system, international partners and visiting healthcare facilities, the team led a workshop for the Health Insurance Fund on the different models of healthcare financing and social protection systems internationally. They were able to identify the main challenges for the Kazakh system, which is undergoing major changes.
The aim of this initial mission was to build a longer-term support project.
